    I told you I’d come and comment and now I feel a little self-conscious. ;) I love “Bee Kin”! That being said, I want to reflect on that a bit more before commenting specifically. My thoughts on “Fancy Heads” in general: You say you’re exploring “the ethereal manifestations of the feminine” and the first place I saw this (when I first saw your drawings) was in the various images that surround, are near, or are attached to the different womens’ heads. To me, these capture the feminine in a very individual way (the feminine is not ONE thing), honoring the character of each woman. These images also seem to represent energy, possibly spirit, and–for me–interaction with the ethereal, producing incarnation (spirit + matter)–that is, who the women are themselves as well as the various creations (no matter what that creation may be) and interactions with the “concrete” world. So the interaction with spirit produces the concrete. Yet, the women themselves also have an ethereal quality, questioning the whole dichotomy between spirit and matter to begin with. Which, in some ways, I think, is of central importance to a holistic and yes–feminine–view of the world. Those are my thoughts for now… :)

    Vista…I still love Vista.
    Something about the placement, and the perspective…yup. Still my favorite.

    I enjoy all of these but you asked for my favorites which are, “Verve” and “Of a Feather” not sure which I like more.

    I was reading what “windspiritgirl” said and agree. I have painted women most of my life and always thought of all women as being compared to jewels, diamonds in particular. The most important fact you have captured and understand. All women are multifaceted. There are many sides and each is as interesting and important as any other. There is no such thing as a two-dimensional woman. Also, as a diamond, you are all timeless and to really observe the beauty one must look beyond the surface deep into the center to see both the perfection and the flaws that make each an individual.

    You work shows first you are a very insightful woman artist with great talent but also stands as both a tribute and a reminder for all of us just how wonderfully complex yet simple women are.

    I’m just honored to have seen your work and to be a simple guy who enjoys being allowed to experience the the beauty of your paintings and the world of all women.

    it’s a toss between ‘birds of a feather’ and Lula’s memoir…both are fantastic. All of you work as a whole is amazing but you asked and I’m sayin.

    My favourites: Verve, The Navigator, Blu Tea – wasn’t easy narrowing down to just three!

    I like all these for their subtle yet intense stories… I can feel and think with them and wonder about my own ‘faces’, the fancy ones and less fancy ones.

    Some of these ‘heads’ have something dream-like about them, and the paintings seem to ‘analyse’ those dreams (if that’s the right word). I’m not a woman but I don’t think that matters; I think these paintings have a strong archetypical background that goes beyond gender.

    The 2 paintings that have been staying in my mind are Vista and The Navigator.

    To me, they both seem to have a universal message, quite emotional (Vista) and intellectual (The Navigator). They kind of talk to me between these extremes, and I think that’s why they stay ‘with me’. And that’s what I’m grateful for.

    Favorites are Lulu’s Memoir, Verve and Of a Feather – also I like Coming up roses – but the first three are my top picks :-) Lovely work -

    Caroline, these characters are more than mesmerizing and encapsulating, they intrigue the sense and both move and capture time itself. Particularly spell bound by Beehive, beauty and fantasia fused with an element of innocence, thanks for sharing :}
